Polar Smoked sardines truly are extraordinary. They are imported from the Northern European Country of Latvia, where they are wild caught in the Baltic Sea. Each batch is hand-picked through a meticulous quality selection process. Each sardine is checked for imperfections, and if any are found, none are ever included in any quality batches.
They are then naturally wood-smoked until perfectly golden. After the natural smoking process, the sardines are individually hand-packed, naturally seasoned, and delicately stored in premium refined olive oil. These sardines have the perfect combination of smokiness and freshness in a single bite.
You've tried the rest, now try the best.

Not bad
Better than other canned sardines, but was not as tender as the ones bought from Costco. Little disappointed.

The Best
These are fantastic. I think I have 3 or 4 dozen in my pantry at all times, just in case they cannot source them to me anymore. They transcend all other sardines, even the tiny two row in cans (by a large margin). Try putting a tiny amount of the oil in scrambled eggs, or a salad, or steamed veggies, or anything. The oil, or oil plus a little mince up sardine, add a wonderful umami taste.
Four from one! YAY for Polar all the way!
I have found these prime select sardines to be the richest and finest. Just today I finished off the remaining 1/2 jar with a ripe avocado and a hard-boiled egg with a few crackers. These sardines are so rich that I can enjoy 1/2 a jar and double my eating pleasure for them. But wait, The rich smokey juice seamed to be too good to toss out, so I open 2 cans of Polar Light Chunky or Albacore Tuna. I break the fish up and mix it well with the rich juice and let it marinate for a day or two in the fridge and by so doing I actually quadruple my taste pleasure!
